Terms & Conditions of Tuition
To achieve your goal, as quickly and affordably as possible, it is important that you regularly attend your lesson and follow the advice and recommendations of your Instructor. Before undertaking any private practice, please consult your Instructor. They can help you to structure your practice so that it is both safe and beneficial. If you should need to contact your Instructor, please do so during normal business hours.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
You must be able to read a number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres. Your Instructor will conduct a simple eye test on your first lesson. You must also hold a valid driving licence with either full or provisional entitlement to drive in the UK. Please bring your licence (photo card and counterpart) on your first lesson, and also to your test.
Appointments
Whilst every care will be taken to ensure that the trainee receives the training at the requested time and with the instructor as booked, all bookings are made on the understanding that the school is not responsible for the postponement of training due to adverse weather conditions, mechanical breakdown of equipment, absence of staff or any other cause. Neither can the school be responsible for driving test appointments postponed by the DSA.
Lessons will start and finish at the agreed location. Lessons are a minimum of 1 hour in duration, but your Instructor can offer longer periods if required.
PAYMENT
Please pay your Instructor before the start of each lesson.If you wish, you can also pay by Debit / Credit card.(Credit Card Payments incur an additional 3% Charge) Cheques should be made payable to U Drive SOM and accompanied by a cheque guarantee card.
REFUNDS
Prepaid lessons, courses and gift vouchers are non-refundable if the trainee cancels any prepaid block or course that have already commenced. Intensive and Residential course deposits are non refundable.All prepaid lessons, courses and gift vouchers must commence within three months from purchase otherwise the value of the lessons will be forfeited, and no refund will be given.All prepaid lessons, courses,and gift cards must be completed within six months of commencement .
If you have purchased a block of lessons for someone else , please inform them of the terms and conditions.
The block booking, gift vouchers and courses are none transferable, or for sale to a third party.
Any unwanted gifts must be returned within two months of purchase, to obtain a refund. You must return the voucher (if applicable). Refunds will be made by cheque and a 10% handling fee will be charged.
These conditions are agreed and laid down by the Driving Instructors Scottish council ( D.I.S.C)
PRICES
The price of lessons will be stated from the outset. Price increases will only be made when absolutely necessary and you will be notified well in advance of any such changes.
CANCELLATIONS
If you wish to cancel a lesson, you must notify the school or your Instructor by 10.00 am the day before your lesson. If for any reason you are unable to give adequate notice, we reserve the right to charge for the lost lesson.
THEORY & PRACTICAL TESTS
Your Instructor will advise you when to book your tests and how to prepare for them.The school reserves the right to withhold the training vehicles for the driving test if, in the instructor''s opinion, the trainee does not reach the required standard.
On the day of your practical test, you will be charged for the use of your Instructor''s car. This fee usually covers 2 hours, but may vary due to locality and distances involved. In the event of your test being cancelled by the DSA, you may apply to them for a refund of the test fee and also the cost of using the car.All tests must be paid for before the school books any tests given by the DSA.
FITNESS TO DRIVE
If, for any reason, your Instructor feels you are unfit to drive, your lesson will be forfeited and you may still be charged. N.B. Some prescription medications can seriously reduce your ability to concentrate. Always check the label and consult your doctor, if necessary.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Your Instructor has been highly trained and has passed the Driving Standards Agency''s strict examinations. Instructor''s standards are also checked periodically by the agency. Your Instructor will always act in a professional manner, and provide a well cared for and highly maintained vehicle. Whilst every effort will be made to keep good time, road and traffic conditions, bad weather or mechanical problems may cause unavoidable delays in your Instructor''s schedule. Your Instructor will try to make up any lost time to you, or arrange another lesson as soon as possible and at your convenience.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
We at U Drive value our customers greatly and work hard to meet all their expectations in full. However, in the unlikely event that you are not completely satisfied with any aspect of our service, please discuss your concern, in the first instance, with your Instructor. INSURANCE
U Drive has professional indemnity insurance protection and public liability insurance.
PERSONAL PROPERTY
Naturally every endeavour is made to safeguard the personal property of any trainee, but we need to point out that U Drive accepts no liability whatsoever for jewellery, cash,clothing or other property that may be left in the training vehicle or on the premises.
NB: U Drive School of Motoring Instructors are self employed, independent franchise operators and all contracts for the provision of driving tuition are strictly between the instructor and the pupil.
